INDIVIDUAL PHYSIOTHERAPY OF INFANTS AND CHILDREN

THERAPY OF BABIES AND TODDLERS

Although every baby develops individually, there are milestones in the development of motor skills that each should reach by a certain age. If not, the baby will start moving with compensating (= bad) movement patterns, which negatively affects further development.

If you have been prescribed a therapy by your doctor, or you notice deviations from the correct development, it is recommended to start therapy as soon as possible. If you are not sure whether the baby is developing properly and you want to consult an expert, you can also come in for the evaluation of psychomotor development. Book your appointment HERE.

IN BABIES, WE DEAL MOST OFTEN WITH
  • predilection (turning the head to one side)
  • torso (body) asymmetry
  • poor support on the hands in a prone position
  • insufficient head erection
  • weak belly
  • umbilical hernia
  • diastasis
  • positional deformities of the legs (twisted legs after childbirth)
  • central coordination disorder (hypotension – decreased muscle tension, hypertension – increased muscle tension)
  • delayed psychomotor development
HOW THE THERAPY OF BABIES AND TODDLERS WORKS

To get the best therapy for your child, we will perform an initial examination during the first therapy. It includes taking the anamnesis and assessing the level of psychomotor development.

We approach the therapy based on this evaluation. We mainly use soft tissue treatment, exercises with elements of the Bobath concept, Vojta’s method (reflex locomotion), Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and sensorimotor exercises. An important part of therapy is the practice of proper handling of babies.

If you have a report from a doctor, please take it with you on the first therapy.

THERAPY OF OLDER CHILDREN

The process is very much like for smaller children.  We will perform an initial examination during the first therapy. After that we can design a therapeutic plan. The form of therapy itself depends on the age of the child. Depending on the age, we playfully include exercises focused on the given problem.

FOR PRESCHOOL AND SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN, WE DEAL MOST OFTEN..
  • defective posture (head slide, round shoulder straps, arched tummy, …)
  • flat feet
  • Scoliosis
  • spinning knees, ankle inwards or outwards
  • post-injury conditions, fractures

Targeted and regular activity can correct these difficulties. In order to achieve lasting improvement, it is necessary to exercise with the child even at home according Targeted and regular activity can correct these difficulties. To achieve permanent improvement, it is necessary to exercise with the child at home according to our therapist’s instructions. We will teach you during therapy how to perform the exercises correctly and how to include them in everyday activities. We will recommend suitable physical activity.
